Nestled along the Highpass trade road of the Karana's lay the great combine spires. Giant monoliths of power and magic that druids and wizards alike use to as a portal point to translocate to. If you're coming from Qeynos in the west) a small garrison built into the bridge over the river guards the travelers and merchants alike crossing the bridge along the trade road. Just North of the bridge the trade road forks. Continuing north along its original route but forking slowly up a large hill where a small merchant bazaar has been organized half way up it. Overlooking the small bazaar is a large stone fortress flying banners of the city state of Qeynos, Castle Forkwatch. Forkwatch is said to have a flurry of travelers on a daily basis. Graciously allowing travel aligned with the good and light gods and races of Norrath to cross through the guards glare as dark or evil races are forbidden. While many travel through the castle few actually reside there aside from the castle guardsmen and some older adventurers resting there after long journeys'. Forkwatch is more then a fortress built for defense of the Combine Spires however. Northeast of the the castle the main Highpass Trade road "forks" as the trade road enters the Karanas. Gypsy caravans and traveling merchants alike frequently come and go via this route from Forkwatch's northern boarder. It's rumored that the legendary group of adventurers "The Seekers" have retired at Forkwatch to enjoy their final years in peace while keeping a watchful eye over the main artery of the Highpass Trade road headed toward Qeynos. Many that frequent Forkwatch's small tavern may have shared a story or shared an ale with the Seeker's legendary dwarven cleric, Thumgrin Stoutshield. Known for his kind heart and unforgiving hammer Thumgrin was known best for his saying : "Lemme give ye some advice youngling. It's not the adventures that makes a hero. It's the people ye help along the way."
